Red Lobster has decided to close 163 of its restaurants. The chain has operated for 58 years. This comes amid a bigger wave of closures hitting the industry at the moment.

Some spots are already confirmed. The Palm Desert, California location learned about it on a Monday. The Springfield branch is also closing. The company hasn't put out the complete list yet, and they haven't said when all the shutdowns will be done. The closures became public on 30 August 2026. Customers across the country will feel the impact.
