DeSantis cancels 1 of 2 executions that were set for Tuesday - Tampa Bay Times — Florida Governor Pulls Back Execution Order at Last Minute

Florida Governor Ron DeSantis has withdrawn a death warrant for William Lee Thompson, 74, who was convicted of murder in Miami-Dade County. It is the first time DeSantis has pulled back an execution order. A second execution was still scheduled for Tuesday.

The decision came days after a botched lethal injection involving Christa Pike raised fresh scrutiny over Florida's lethal injection process. The governor gave no immediate public explanation for cancelling the order for Thompson specifically.
